Artist Statement:
A photographer possesses both the power and the responsibility to affect change by illustrating a
unique perspective on humanity. I document truth through my camera’s lens. The ordinary people in my photographs of Afghanistan are hardworking and passionate. Many have warmly welcomed me into their homes and into their hearts.

By focusing on this ancient culture, I hope to inform the viewer about a people whose daily struggles
are unknown to most Americans. I aim to illuminate the world of the Afghan people and dispel
misinformation. If this leads to further understanding and a call to their aide, then I have completed my
mission.
